About Us

A very warm welcome.

Dear Irfan Parents, Families and Community Members, Assalamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Irfan College is an Islamic co-educational school located in Cecil Park. Our College was established in 2013 with 28 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and currently serves students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The term ‘Irfan’ is a verbal noun that comes from the root verb (a’rafa) which means ‘to be cognisant of’. There are three terms in the Islamic tradition that are closely related with one another (‘ilm – Knowledge), (hikmah – wisdom), and (‘irfan – cognisance). Wisdom is the product of combining knowledge with action, and cognisance is the product of combining knowledge with love. Irfan, in this instance, is the culmination and highest order of knowledge. Irfan College is grounded in a student-centred philosophy.

Our mid to long term goal for our current campus in Cecil Park is to house 350 students which is a single stream school from Kindergarten to Year 12. This allows us to offer students and families with a personalised form of education. Our aim is to have our first graduates by the year 2021.

The physical setting of our College provides students with space and beauty. Our master plan has been developed to provide students with the best possible learning experiences. Our students currently receive their learning in demountables. We are in the process of constructing our first conventional building that will service students in Years 4-9 commencing in 2017. The building will also include a fully-equipped science lab for our secondary students. From 2017 onward, our College faculties will include a Science lab, Visual Arts Room, Technology Lab, Languages Other Than English (LOTE) Room,  Daar ul-Irfan Library, multipurpose hall, to name just a few. We aim to have all our facilities in conventional and modular buildings by 2021.

Our curriculum is derived from the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) mandated Australian Curriculum and specialist subjects that include LOTE, Islamic Studies, and Qur’an Studies.  Please refer to our Primary and Secondary Curriculum pages for more information regarding our College curriculum.

Our College celebrates a multicultural student population with over 15 ethnicities constituting our student makeup. All of our students fall into the ‘English as An Additional Language/Dialect’ (EALD) background which again is testament to our diversity. Whole-school pedagogies and instructional methods such as phonemic awareness and reading comprehension are developed to cater for our student needs.

Tuition fees are fairly reasonable in comparison to most independent Islamic schools. Please refer to our tuition fees page for more information.

Scholarships are also available for our students in three different categories. Please refer to our scholarships page for more information.

Our College also facilitates a bus service that covers an expansive amount of area in the Western and South-western Sydney suburbs including Auburn, Granville, Blacktown, Mount Druitt, and Prestons.

We hope this information has provided you with sufficient information about our College. Please contact our office administration staff should you require more information.
